We are delighted to be able to offer you this unique trip to Cape Town featuring racing at Kenilworth for South Africa’s famous Sun Met Handicap. We start our visit at Hartford House where we have an exclusive tour of Summerhill Stud Farm located in the beautiful KwaZulu-Natal. Durban is our next stop for a day's racing followed by a safari at Phinda Private Game Reserve.

Sunday 13 January
Depart: London Heathrow Flight BA57 21:10hrs

Monday 14 January
Arrive: Johannesburg 10:15hrs
Depart: Johannesburg Flight BA6211 12:45hrs
Arrive: Durban 13:50hrs
On arrival in Durban you will be met and transferred to Hartford House (approx. 2 1/2-hour drive) for your 3 night stay on a bed and breakfast basis. Tonight, enjoy drinks with your host and fellow travellers.

Tuesday 15 January
Today, enjoy a visit of Summerhill Stud Farm followed lunch at Hartford House.

Wednesday 16 January
Today we shall explore the local area taking in craft workshops and farms. The afternoon is at leisure to relax.

Thursday 17 January
After breakfast you shall be transferred to the Oyster Box in Umhlanga (approx. 2-hour drive) for a 3 night stay on a bed and breakfast basis.

Friday 18 January
Day at leisure in Durban.

Saturday 19 January
Racing in Durban! We shall visit Scotsville (possibly Greyville) for an afternoons racing with hospitality.

Sunday 20 January
You will transfer from The Oyster Box in Durban (approx. 3hr drive) to Phinda Mountain Lodge for 3 nights on a full board basis plus house wines, local brand spirits and beers.

Monday 21 & Tuesday 22 January
Enjoy safari activities at Phinda Game Reserve.

Wednesday 23 January
You will transfer by road (approx. 3hr drive) to Durban Airport for your flight to Cape Town. On arrival in Cape Town you will be transferred to the Radisson Blu Cape Town for a 4-night stay on a bed and breakfast basis. The evening is at leisure.

Thursday 24 January
Depart for Stellenbosch and Franschoek (approx. 1-hour drive) with lunch included.

Friday 25 January
Day at leisure to explore Cape Town. Why not explore Robben Island, Table Mountain or Cape Peninsula? Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner with your hosts and fellow travellers.

Saturday 26 January
Mid-morning transfer to Kenilworth Racecourse for the Grade 1 Sun Met.

Sunday 27 January
Day at leisure until your departure to the airport.

Monday 28 January
Arrive: London Heathrow 04:45hrs

Sun Met 
Saturday sees the running of Cape Town's biggest and best loved race, the Sun Met. This race is the most popular in South Africa and has become a major social event and Kenilworth Racecourse is always packed to capacity. We shall be accommodated in the well-appointed Kenilworth Room. A superb buffet lunch will be on offer and there will be a complimentary bar service. 

Cape Town lies in an incomparable setting between the Atlantic Ocean and the majestic backdrop of Table Mountain. Cape Town, and its surrounding countryside, has everything to offer the visitor; a ride in the cable-car to the top of Table Mountain, the Cape Dutch architecture, the wine lands, the spectacular views from Cape Point plus many other delights.
