The Dubai World Cup is now firmly established as a premier event in the worldwide racing calendar, with its top quality field of participants from across the globe.

In 2008 the Dubai World Cup was won by the brilliant American horse Curlin with the Argentinean horse Asiatic Boy in second and American Well Armed in third position. The French horse Darjina, ridden by Christophe Soumillon, finished second behind the South African horse Jay Peg in the Dubai Duty Free race, with America's Archipenko in third. The Dubai Sheema Classic was won by the Australian horse Sun Classique with the British horse Viva Pataca in second and the well-travelled French horse Doctor Dino in third place.

MEYDAN RACECOURSE

The new Meydan Racecourse in Dubai is set to be a landmark structure of great proportion. Excitement around this project has been building up for a long time and Sheikh Mohammed has been praised for creating this breathtaking venture. The Meydan Racecourse will have everything the horse racing enthusiast can dream of and more. It will be a symbol of luxury, hospitality and wonder. The racecourse is due to have its grand opening in conjunction with the start of the 2010 Dubai World Cup.

The Meydan Racecourse is an iconic landmark development spanning 76 million square feet and featuring state of the art dirt and turf tracks and a world class grandstand with a capacity of approximately 60,000 people. Hospitality and dining facilities within the new grandstand will redefine the racing experience and offer levels of luxury, comfort and racing entertainment second to none.

There will also be a five star hotel, more than ten restaurants, several private hospitality suites and boxes, the homes of both the Meydan Museum and Dubai Racing Club, a state of the art racing museum, as well as covered parking for approximately 10,000 cars. A four kilometre canal will run from Dubai Creek to offer racegoers the unique opportunity to arrive by boat at the racecourse, and will feature a marina and a boathouse. The facility will be finished off with an eighteen-hole championship golf course and business unit.

Grandstand prices now confirmed!  See tour details for more information.
