Once again we are delighted to be able to offer you a selection of tours to the ‘Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe’
A spectacular weekend of the finest turf racing with 11 Group races over the weekend. The Arc is not only Europe's most prestigious race but with a new partnership between France Galop and The Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, it has become the world’s richest turf race. This festival of racing is a showcase of the greatest Thoroughbred horses from all over Europe and now, for the first time during this meeting, Longchamp will be hosting four International races for Pure Arabian horses. One of these four Arabian races, the Qatar Arabian World Cup, to be run on Arc day, will become the richest Arabian race in the world.
Unlike other Tour Operators, Horse Racing Abroad offers you total flexibility with regard to your choice of hotel and transport arrangements, allowing you to "mix and match" to suit your requirements.
Our packages are fully inclusive, comprising escorted transfers in Paris on arrival/departure and from your hotel to Longchamp on race days with racecourse admission provided. In addition, our staff are on hand both in your hotel and at the course to ensure the smooth running of your weekend from start to finish. With flights from most of the UK's major airports, a wide range of 3 star, 4 star, 4 star deluxe and Palace hotels, and our exclusive arrangements at Longchamp, we are confident that ours is a Winning Formula!
As there are 8 races scheduled on Arc day we strongly recommend, for your own comfort, that you stay overnight in Paris after racing.
The Arc Last Year
There was a controversial end to the Arc in 2007 with a lengthy stewards inquiry prolonging the announcement of the winner Dylan Thomas partnered by Keiren Fallon, who narrowly overcame the challenge from the Mick Channon trained Youmzain. Unfortunately Epsom Derby winner Authorized could only finish in 10th position.
Supporting Group I Races …
Group 1 “Prix du Cadran”: was won by Le Miracle for his German connections, with Irish challenger Yeats finishing in third place.
Group 1 “Prix de l’Opera”: Satwa Queen was victorious in an exciting finish, winning by a head over Promised Lead and Ryan Moore. Guineas winner Finsceal Beo was back in 5th ahead of Oaks heroine Light Shift.
Group 1 “Prix de l'Abbaye”: (the European Sprint Championship over 5 furlongs) has been dominated by English and Irish trained horses for many years. 2007 was no exception with British trainer Mark Wallace saddling the winner Benbaun ridden by Pat Smullen. Kingsgate Native the only 2 year old in the field was second under Jimmy Quinn, two lengths ahead of the 2006 winner Desert Lord.
Group 1 “Prix Marcel Boussac”: for 2 year old fillies, has produced numerous Classic winners. Zarkava under Christophe Soumillon was successful in 2007 for the Aga Khan. This impressive filly is likely to go on to further Group success. Dermot Welds’ Mad About You finished in third position.
Group 1 “Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere” (formerly the Grand Criterium): for 2 year old colts & fillies was won by the impressive Godolphin colt Rio de la Plata, ridden by Frankie Dettori. Runner up was the British trained Declaration of War under Ryan Moore.
Exclusivity with Horse Racing Abroad
An estimated one third of the crowd attending the Arc weekend come from English speaking countries. Our racing and travel expertise means a good proportion travel with Horse Racing Abroad. We alone can provide the high standards the British race-goer expects in our exclusive Pavilion Grandstand, but our capacity is limited to 1,200 reserved seats. Whether travelling individually or as a corporate group we cater for every need.

Horse Racing Abroad & Longchamp
Horse Racing Abroad has worked closely with France Galop, the French Jockey Club, for many years and is proud to be the only officially appointed racing tours company bringing race-goers to this event.
With two days of superb Group racing, 6 Group 1 races on Arc day alone, Longchamp will have its busiest weekend of the year, with crowds pouring in from all over France, Europe and America. Besides creating a tremendous atmosphere of excitement and anticipation, this also leads to overcrowding in all the main viewing, betting and restaurant areas at the racecourse that are outside the Horse Racing Abroad Pavilion Grandstand area.
Horse Racing Abroad Pavilion Grandstand

Since 1981 we have had the unique facility of our own private Grandstand at Longchamp. The Pavilion, which dates from 1927, is a listed Grade I building.
2001 saw the start of our major renovation programme to the Pavilion Grandstand. These renovations have resulted in improvements to the bars and self-service restaurant on the ground floor as well as new cloakroom facilities. Renovations have also been made to the luncheon rooms and their facilities on the first floor. We are delighted that we have been able to upgrade the facilities of the grandstand for you.
The Pavilion is for the exclusive use of our clientele. No organisation other than Horse Racing Abroad is able to overcome the problem of queuing for betting, eating and drinking. The Pavilion prides itself in having spacious and uncrowded viewing areas.
Our aim at Horse Racing Abroad is to ensure that you enjoy your visit to the full. With a reserved seat in our exclusive grandstand, you can watch the racing in comfort and avoid the crowds in the public areas. We hope that you will join us for the 2008 Qatar Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe Weekend.
Due to the heavy demand we regret that the Pavilion Grandstand facility is only available to those who are taking travel arrangements with ourselves.
